Winter's Here!

Wow winter has arrived a few days early! Hasn’t it been freezing this week? We have the perfect antidote though, a long hot bath, a scented candle or two and your favourite body bar. Add in a soft washcloth and the cold day is just a receding memory. Ahhh feel better already… but back to work for me…I need to remind you that we’ll be at the Coffs Coast Growers Market in Coffs Harbour this Thursday, followed by the Harbourside markets on Sunday (also in Coffs). We braved the cold in Armidale last Sunday, and were warmed by lots of smiling faces who were happy to see the body bars (and us we hope ☺).

Some exciting news for our beloved customers – you will soon be able to shop directly on our Facebook page! Our website will continue to develop and grow, however we are hoping to make your shopping experience even more convenient by being able to shop while you’re visiting us on Facebook.

We love your feedback, and sincerely appreciate the comments and suggestions you pass on to us, so please keep them coming.

Until next time stay warm, snuggle up with someone (or something) you love, and keep on enjoying your body bar bathtimes!

Mothers Day 13 May 2012

Mothers Day has crept up oh so quickly! We have the perfect things for Mum so there’s no excuse – forget the slippers or the PJs and go for something that will pamper her all over. We have our special Mothers Day gift boxes that have 6 chunky pieces in them. She can use them however she likes, one at a time or use a few at the same time. One for the hair, one for the face and one for everywhere else! A truly pampering experience. Of course you can buy our full size Body Bars by themselves, in gift bags or in any combination you’d like. Find us at Coffs Growers Market this Thursday and buy one, or maybe two for Mum, your Mother-in-law, that lady who’s like a second Mum, the sweet old lady in the office, your boss, your teacher, or just a kind looking woman walking down the street. Go ahead, make her day!!

Out & About 28/29 April

Just a quick reminder that Luke will be at the Woolgoolga Curryfest this Saturday 28th April, and Steve will be at the Drovers Camp at Boggabri Showgrounds both Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th April. They’ll have our full range of Body, Shampoo and Scrub Bars – don’t forget Mothers Day is coming up on Sunday 13th May, so this will be a great opportunity to grab a gift bag. You can select the bars you know she loves, or try the Pieces of Each that lets her experience the range.

You’ll also find us at the Armidale Markets in the Mall this Sunday, the last Armidale Market before Mothers Day. Say hi to Luke – he’ll be happy to help find something special for Mum. We promise there won’t be a pair of fluffy slippers in sight (not that there’s anything wrong with them, but you know what I mean!).

Remember if you can’t make it this weekend, now is the time to place your online Mothers Day orders, and we’ll get them in the post as fast as we can!

Oh and if you are at the Curryfest in Woolgoolga, keep your eye out for Viv – she’s moonlighting for the day making Banana Smoothies and choc-coated bananas!! I can assure you they are completely and totally scrumptious and well worth looking out for.

Hope you have a great weekend,

Anzac Day

Hi! Welcome to Body Bar Australia’s revived news centre. Here you can find out where we’ve been, where we’re going and all the stuff that happens in between. We’ll keep you up to date with new products, and we’ll also be asking for your opinion on some of our new ideas. We might even throw in a competition or two so keep checking in to see what’s happening.

This week sees loads of work behind the scenes on updating and improving our website. We’ve got ideas flying all over the place and we’re starting to pull a few in and get them sitting nicely on the page. This is a great chance for you to have a say in the website, in its layout or in the content, or even the colour scheme! We tend to go for fresh foliage greens drizzled in a thin coat of chocolate….oops sorry that sounds more like our staff lunch. No really, we like the greens and the timber browns, contrasted with a sharp edgy white (now it sounds like that drinks party we don’t talk about much).

We’ll be at the usual place at the Coffs Coast Growers Market this Thursday, then Saturday is the Woolgoolga Curryfest – can’t wait for that one, we have our forks all ready. On Saturday we will manage to be in two places at once (yay Hogwarts) when Steve dirties the boots and heads to the Drovers Campfire at Boggabri (he’ll be there Saturday and Sunday). And then Sunday has Body Bar Australia appearing at the Armidale Markets in the Mall.

Come along and say hi! We’re very friendly and thanks to our beautiful body bars, we smell wonderful. Take home a Shampoo Bar this week, either the Little Green Apples or the Lavender, Lemon and Rosemary (my personal favourite) and then drop us a line to let us know how much your hair loves you for it. Remember Wednesday is Anzac Day, when Rosemary is traditionally worn as a sign of respect and remembrance. Wear yours in your hair.

Beeswax Candles

Benefits of Beeswax Candles
Beeswax candles purify the air
A beeswax candle emits a constant stream of negative ions whilst burning. These negative ions are attracted to suspended particles in the air (such as pollen, odours, dust, moulds and toxins) which are positively charged. The suspended particles thereby become heavier and gravity pulls them to the ground – instead of remaining in the air where they can be breathed in causing allergic reactions.

Beeswax candles are the only known fuel that emits these negative ions. Other sources of negative ions include rain forests and moving water such as rain storms, oceans, fast flowing rivers and waterfalls.

Burning a beeswax candle is the simplest and most cost effective way of purifying the air you breathe.

Beeswax candles burn up to 10 times longer than paraffin candles
Beeswax has a higher melting point than paraffin. Beeswax candles therefore burn slower and last longer, making them an economical alternative.

Beeswax candles do not emit smoke
Beeswax candles will only smoke if burnt in a draughty room (such as near an open window), or if the wick is too long. To prevent smoking trim the wick to between 5mm and 7mm prior to lighting the candle.

Beeswax candles do not contain artificial fragrances
To improve their appeal many paraffin candles contain artificial fragrances. When burnt these fragrances produce toxic black soot which settles on walls, window coverings, carpets and inside your lungs. Beeswax candles emit a pleasant light honey scent without the use of fragrances.

Beeswax candles emit a warm golden glow
The light emitted by a beeswax candle is in the same spectrum as the sun. It is a warm golden colour and a halo can often be seen around it. This is opposed to the disorganised light spectrum produced by paraffin candles (which is similar to old fashioned incandescent light bulbs), or the cool bluish flame emitted by soy candles.

Beeswax candles are great for the environment
Beeswax candles are recognised as carbon neutral by the WWF, as the CO2 emitted whilst burning has already been removed from the atmosphere by the bees in producing the wax. Beeswax is also a renewable resource.

Cotton wicks and 100% beeswax
Many paraffin candle manufacturers use metal-cored wicks. These can contribute to unhealthy indoor air quality. Our candles are made with Cotton wicks and 100% beeswax.
